Fees

We work cost-effectively and transparently. Before we act for you, you know what costs to expect – with no unpleasant surprises.

How do we calculate our fees?

As a rule, we agree fixed amounts for a case or a clearly defined stage, for example the investigation stage, the trial at one instance or an appeal on points of law. You know in advance what your representation will cost, not only at the end of the proceedings.

Is the fee agreed in writing?

Yes. Before we start work, we record the fee in a written fee agreement. It sets out the scope of work, the amount, when payment is due, expenses and VAT.

What applies without a fee agreement?

Without an agreement, fees are governed by the German Lawyers' Remuneration Act (RVG). In court proceedings, fees may generally not fall below the statutory fees.

How does the initial consultation work?

We offer an affordable initial consultation by phone, most conveniently as a video call. Most questions can already be clarified at short notice in such a conversation. If you then instruct us, the fee for the initial consultation is credited against our fee.

We kindly ask you to pay for the initial consultation in advance. As soon as we have received your payment, we will arrange an appointment with you at short notice. This lets us focus entirely on your matter during the call.

Will my legal expenses insurance cover the costs?

That depends on your insurance policy and on the allegation. On request, we can ask your insurer to confirm cover. An agreed fixed amount may exceed what the insurer pays; we will discuss any difference with you beforehand.

Court-appointed defence

In cases of mandatory defence, for example serious charges or pre-trial detention, the court can appoint defence counsel. The fees are initially paid by the state; in the event of a conviction, they may be charged to the convicted person.

Victim counsel at public expense

Victims of certain serious crimes can have a lawyer appointed at public expense to assist them in criminal proceedings, in many cases regardless of income. We will check in the initial consultation whether this applies to you.
